Bubba Gump

The Masters was pretty suite yesterday. I like Bubba Watson, it's cool that he's made it this far and never had golf lessons. He learned how to golf from his dad. Good for him.

Has anyone seen that commercial for fatherhood.org where the girl is sitting in class and her military dad walks into the classroom and surprises her? I've seen it probably a dozen times and every time it chokes me up. I couldn't find the actual commercial, but here is the video of it.

The first full weekend of MLB has passed. The MESS are 3-0 and the Braves are 0-3. Congrats, LP. I'm SAS that bolth the Mess and O's are 3-0. I guess that means the Twins are as bad as I thought they would be. How's that for jumping to conclusions? Th other awesome thing is that the Red Sux are 0-3. Hooray beer!

How was everyone's Easter? Mine was great. We had cmk's family over here. Along with my mom, stepdad, dad, stepmom, and grandpa. I made some bomb ass sangria, my famous cheddar bacon deviled eggs, the ham, and spinach artichoke dip. Cmk made some awesome chocolate cupcakes with a Cadbury egg in the middle. Those were dope. And everyone else broat* something too. We had tons of food, it was great. What was the best thing you had to eat yesterday? I think mine was the cupcake.

I have been growing my beard out for about 2 weeks. It's so fucking itchy, I hate it. But we're going to Vegas in 2 weeks, and they want to do an 80s theme so I'm going to let the beard grow until then and then rock a stache in Vegas that weekend. I was letting the neck beard grow too, but I had to shave that shit yesterday, it was annoying me.

I think my favorite heavy metal song of all time is Enter Sandman. What's yours? No, I changed my mind. It's One by Metallica. Yeah, that's my favorite.

Jeremey Lin getting hurt is the best thing that could have ever happened to him.

Everyone was pretty much onto the fact that he isn't really that good and his good sized contract and endorsement deals were slowly slipping away.

So BOOM. Miniscus injury. An injury made up by doctors to make money.

FACT not one human being in the history of the world had a miniscus problem prior to 1992.

So Lin and his "meniscus" injury sit out the rest of the year, sign a nice contract and endorsement deals over the summer. As opposed to if he had been playing this whole time and watched his endorsement deals and contract go down the drain.

RE: Metal

Looking through my iTunes which is going to be incomplete because most of my metal CDs never got ripped:

Paranoid - Black Sabbath
Fade To Black - Metallica
Cult of Personality/Time's Up - Living Colour
Shout At The Devil - Mötley Crüe
I Against I - Bad Brains (if you consider them metal)

Also, Helmet was very underrated in my opinion. In The Meantime and Milquetoast are good jams.

I'm sure Kod has some strong opinions on this topic as well.

Living Colour is NOT metal.

Keef said...

Living Colour is an American rock band from New York City, formed in 1984. Stylistically, the band's music is a creative fusion influenced by free jazz, funk, neo-psychedelia, hard rock, and heavy metal.

unless you consider One and And Justice for All (song and album) "new" Metallica, I owe you one punch in the back of the head for that omission

you gotta relax the metal standard a bit for the top 40 as well

or else, you will have maybe 5 metal songs total that have charted in the 1980s; Metal has never been very popular on the whole as far as album sales or radio play goes

So, songs that were unusually hard rocking for the 80s, yet charted high (for instance, Kickstart my Heart) sometimes are considered metal....but probably technically aren't.

Keef said...

I've been saying that for years!

also, see early Van Halen

funny how so many thought/still want to believe they rocked so hard; eh, it's almost as pop as VanHaggar IMO.

They are sometimes considered metal, although I don't agree at all....closest to me would be Panama, but that's just hard rock (of course, hard rock was quite rare in the 1980s....unless you count makeup wearing arena rockers, which I do not)

Also see, early 1980s ACDC-hard rock, but not certainly not metal

nah, it's just 80s metal, at least in parts.

there are definitely parts that are; probably about 1-1.5 min.

the "neon signs, nobel prize..." part is decidedly not metal, but if this doesn't count as a metal song, then I don't know what could be considered a metal hit in the 1980s
