WWL is reporting that Al Davis is gonna ax Lane Kiffin. That seems a bit extreme, I doubt the old man can even lift an axe. In any case, he'll fire him soon. Like I said last week, if you say it enough times eventually you will be right.
Some dude who played for the Jags got shot up a bunch awhile back and now is paralyzed and had a leg amputated. Why wasn't this a bigger story when it happened? Did the family do that good of a job hiding it? I don't know how you hide something like that from the media. Totally sucks for him. Hopefully he does the best he can with what he has now.
Economic Stimulus News: Go look at CNN. They update it by the minute.
Random Side Note: Why can't people drive in garages? I followed another lady into the garage and she clearly had never been in one before. She was thouroughly confused by the left turns and had to inspect every spot to see if the sign said she could park there....Here's a tip, if there is a sign you probably can't park there. Really if there is a sign you might get 2hrs of parking there or something. Park in one of the spaces with no sign. And don't go 1mph the whole way up to the fourth floor.
Pirates hijacking a huge ship of tanks and guns and stuff is awesome. Pirates are the best. Unless they are a baseball team. Then they are not.
I'm too tired to write a movie review.

tem sells cartoon balloons in town
and jesus, he wants to go to venus
"i could delete this whole post"
no you can't.
"tem sells cartoon balloons in town"
only to feed my drug habit.
"and jesus, he wants to go to venus"
women are from venus, so i want to go where the women are.
kod moves in with fmkod today, or maybe it's tomorrow.
probably tomorrow since it's the first day of october.
sources have confirmed that the world is going to end today
just ask zeke
by the by
my 401k has dropped 10% in the last 2 months, i guess i'm not going to retire soon
if the world ends do we all die or just go to some other world?
venus i guess, because that's where jesus wants to go
"sources have confirmed that the world is going to end today"
Damn, and on your birthday too Blue. Happy birthday anyway!
Happy birthday blue!
I bought a gallon of milk today...freaking $5!!!
Its already starting to happen!
Luckily I took out all my money from my accounts and mutual funds and put them under my mattress.
Hey we can't buy gas in Atlanta no matter how much we're willing to pay. Definitely the end of the world is near...
I have gas.
I think we may be talking about a different kind of gas here jug...
my bad
hmm, it's same ol same ol here re: milk and gas.
"The big mistake policymakers made in the 1930s was to allow too many banks to fail. This caused such a financial earthquake that it led to a decade of hardship."
Canned goods, bottled water. Jug build a jugcave.
How much are you paying for gas there, and have you had a really hard time finding gas?
I already have a jug cave.
ilg...I posted this last night.
Check it out, I'd like to hear your opinion on it.
I know in Alabama, they're limiting gas, you can only buy $30 at a time.
"How much are you paying for gas there, and have you had a really hard time finding gas?"
Finding gas is a HUGE pain. You often have to drive around for about 1/2 an hour or so and luck into finding a station with gas, and then you wait in a line for another 1/2 hour praying they don't run out before you get to the pump.
Once you get there though the prices aren't terrible as there are anti-gouging statutes. Regular unleaded is usually around $4.
there was a difference between now and 1930, it's called the FDIC. In 1930 the reason the banks failed is because everyone rushed in to get their money out of the banks fearing they would lose all of their cash.
Dow is up 200pts...end of the world is near.
It is back to normal hear as far as gas is concerned. Those gas lines are a pain in the ass though. Sam's Club had cops out there to watch for fights. A lot of people filled up 5-6 gas cans plus their vehicle.
i paid 3.28 yesterday
and i could fill up
i just heard a commercial on the radio:
"Texas, it's like a whole other country"
is that because 90% of the inhabitants speak spanish?
90% is a little high, its more like 78%
"A lot of people filled up 5-6 gas cans plus their vehicle."
Yeah someone here at work saw some guy fill 2 50-gallon barrels in his pickup. And there have been definite fights at the pumps. People are resorting to if they see a tanker truck they follow it to find where it's going.
stop it blue, you know I don't speak spanish!
it is 3.41 here, no shortage.
Part of the problem we had here after Ike was stations had gas, but no power to get it out.
I saw people waiting at a gas station just because they saw a power truck working in the area.
"ilg...I posted this last night."
changing the accounting rule would only seem to delay the problem.
eventually the shitty mortgages would fuck them up.
still might be a better idea than a huge bailout though.
I wonder how EP's interview with the Frenchies went.
Probably at the end they said they were glad they met with him and he heard "met" and broke down sobbing, killing any chance he may have had...
you should just siphon gas from your neighbor.
crying in front of frenchies would get him hired on the spot.
"you should just siphon gas from your neighbor"
2 guys did get busted for siphoning from daycare vans after hours.
I wonder how EP's interview with the Frenchies went.
He should show up drinking Perrier.
Gas shortages?
Is that S or NS?
""you should just siphon gas from your neighbor""
we had problems around here of people siphoning off gas from u-haul trucks, but that was back when gas was expensive, not that there was a shortage.
"Gas shortages?
Is that S or NS?"
That's total NS. GA apparently gets their gas from Texas right where Ike hit.
woohoo whitesox
I have jetfuel in my backyard if anyone needs some.
You guys should get your gas from Saudi Arabia.
gas
it's bad enough that we have to pay 4+ for a gallon of gas, but now we have to drive around town like rats salvaging for food.
I'm buying a moped.
don't say "we"
only beth does this
"only beth does this"
it's the same in Charlotte.
i get mine from giant eagle.
i'm guessing salvaging=scrounging or scavangering
I'm looking for a moped, myself. I hope to get one for a solid deal during the winter months.
i looked into the moped idear...then realized it's cold in the winter and that would suck
I'm buying a moped.
You better check with Monta Ellis on moped safety.
One of Jug's brothers is moving to Charlotte.
Charlotte isn't a bad town to live in
"it's the same in Charlotte."
i thought you lived in Cary
"during the winter months"
i have not thought of this.
not sure about you guys, but it's only really cold in the south east like 2 months of the year (and even then is on and off).
Moped = 75mpg $15 to fill up. not to mention they make parking a breeze.
i'm gonna get one with flames going down side. and a bumper sticker that reads "pretty fly for a white guy"
it'll be awsome.
"i thought you lived in Cary"
na, i moved a few months ago.
"Charlotte isn't a bad town to live in"
agreed, very cool city.
"not sure about you guys, but it's only really cold in the south east like 2 months of the year (and even then is on and off). "
yeah, it's colder more often here...but it still might be worth it just for the summer
"Moped = 75mpg $15 to fill up. not to mention they make parking a breeze."
Mopeds I'm looking at get about 100mpg & cost about 4 bones to fill up.
Honda Metropolitan.
we were gonna build apartments in cary.
then didn't.
moped would be ok here for about half the time.
the other half is either cold or rainy.
I personally blame GA for the gas shortage in NC. If all those ATL people would chill out and walk every now and then, we wouldn't have a problem.
i'm gonna get one with flames going down side. and a rainbow bumper sticker
*fixed
Sorry, but I could never take a guy seriously who rode a moped.
"Sorry, but I could never take a guy seriously who rode a moped."
Yes you could. Women are golddiggers. Moped = more cash in that dude's pocket. = that extra 1/64 of a carat.
"Sorry, but I could never take a guy seriously who rode a moped."
i could pull on a moped.
"Moped = more cash in that dude's pocket. = that extra 1/64 of a carat."
I think for most people the equation is more like "moped = can't afford a car".
"I wonder how EP's interview with the Frenchies went."
went well, i think, didnt get a read on the guy but i slayed the two women, as usual my charm may get me in
And WADR meiz, fat guys on mopeds are the worse.
yeah, fat chicks on the back of mopeds really weigh them down too.
"there was a difference between now and 1930, it's called the FDIC. In 1930 the reason the banks failed is because everyone rushed in to get their money out of the banks fearing they would lose all of their cash."
hey blue alot of people have more than what the FDIC insures, and it also effects mortgages and property value
just a heads up buddy
"i slayed the two women, as usual my charm may get me in"
I hope you dropped a LMC somewhere in the interview.
i like being here though so thye'd have to give me a sweet gig to leave, we'll see, hopefully i have a decision to make other than whether or not to wear underwear
"I hope you dropped a LMC somewhere in the interview."
i did drop a WADR
"i did drop a WADR"
I hope it was something along the lines of: "WADR, I normally hate the French but if you pay me enough I might come work for you".
"hey blue alot of people have more than what the FDIC insures, and it also effects mortgages and property value"
i'm just saying that's why there was a run on banks back then...there won't be the mass hysteria and panic today, unless there are morons out there saying "the sky is falling"
I hope it was something along the lines of: "WADR, I normally hate the French but if you pay me enough I might come work for you".
it was similar, i said, with all due respect Deutsche Bank is the #1 Prime Broker shop on the street today, however the opportunity that BNP Paribas is presenting is exciting.
she smiled at me, i shoulda took her right there, too bad the office walls were glass
unless there are morons out there saying "the sky is falling"
I think Blue just called Zeke and EP morons...
The game is afoot.
which game?
"I think for most people the equation is more like "moped = can't afford a car"."
You're the 1st person I've ever seen utter those words.
See? Golddiggers.
give me my foot back, yo
"Gas shortages?
Is that S or NS?"
exactly what i was thinking
sky aint falling
just gonna get alot worse before it gets better and we'll all suffer in some way
that story is afoot
im fascinated by fetal alcohol syndrome, head heard of it before but read about it yesterday, and now im going to look at every stranger and determine if they have it
"just gonna get alot worse before it gets better and we'll all suffer in some way"
agreed
"and now im going to look at every stranger and determine if they have it"
I've been doing this since freshman year in highschool.
deke looks at every stranger and tries to determine if that stranger would make sexytime with them.
"I've been doing this since freshman year in highschool."
then im really late to the party, but im still gonna get hammered and have a great time
just gonna get alot worse before it gets better and we'll all suffer in some way
I just don't think that is worth throwing 700B over bad debt. Things will bounce back and there has to be other options.
"then im really late to the party, but im still gonna get hammered and have a great time"
You won't be disappointed.
so are they having a re-do on the bailout vote?
Or did I dream that?
They are trying
"I just don't think that is worth throwing 700B over bad debt. Things will bounce back and there has to be other options."
disagree but whatever
neckbeard didnt play too bad the other night jug
Neckbeard looks good in stretches...they had too many turnovers in the 2nd half. Good win though!
andy reid handed that game to you but nice win, mcnabb play fake would have won it
I'm totally gonna buy a Brewers Mr Potato Head.
mcnabb stinx
Totally agreed on the McNabb play fake, in fact I asked rev about that last night but he didn't respond. Bad turnovers made the game closer than it should have been. Hester also missed another TD pass earlier in the game. I'm a homer, what can I say.
last night's game was awful and TC made it worse
hester seems to miss those alot
i'm not sure he can actually catch with his hands
three pics worth looking at, the first one, the cowgirl and matt jones's awesome mustache
Some dude just offered me Muhsin Muhammed & Don Driver for Reggie Wayne. Here's the CnP of my response:
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

nice work deke
hester seems to miss those alot
i'm not sure he can actually catch with his hands
I know, one of the announcers made a comment referring to "that is why he was a db".
Didn't Priiiime Tiiiime even have some droppy problems, too
Jim Rome: The Mets bullpen thinks Detroit's bullpen sucks!
champ is a good catcher
not in the kod, pitcher/catcher kind of way
I think Blue just called Zeke and EP morons...
I'm basing my opinion on what I've read and heard about the situation.
Maybe "great depression 2" is too extreme.....as "it'll all work out with no intervention" is too lax.
Thinking we don't have a problem is naive.
im fascinated by fetal alcohol syndrome, head heard of it before
head heard is classic
Hester only had something like 3 catches his last season at Da U right?
ns
Thinking we don't have a problem is naive.
I don't think anyone said there isn't a problem, just differences in opinions on how to handle it.
i've never said there wasn't a problem, but it's also how the economics of a free market work
I also worry that GW is just scared that this will be his legacy IF we go into a recession, or even a depression...
a recession is a given, with or without the bailout, at least for the next 6 months, i would guess.
the funny thing is, no matter what happens, i'll always remember GW as will farrell portrayed him on SNL...
that, and the "we won't be fooled again" speech.
"Thinking we don't have a problem is naive."
Well no kidding. You'd be pretty hard-pressed to find anybody that thinks that.
aren't most of you advocating not doing anything though?
to me that's the same thing as saying there isn't a problem.
No...I'm saying let's explore other options. I don't think the answer is to dump billions on bad debt.
"the answer is to kill lots of people." -Cho
I'm taking the obama approach...change is the answer
i wish GW would have said "the blood is on their hands"

this will end badly
Some say the voting was affected by Pelosi's anti-Bush speech yesterday.
I would tend to think that the voting was affected more by people calling in complaining about it since elections are so close.
yeah, this is the first time, I can remember where the american voters actually had a say in something.
a lot of politicians are saying that they had heard from their constituents telling them to vote against it. i'm amazed they listened (ns)
Mort says Kiffin is fired.
i wonder what Thomas Jefferson Johnson voted
I would tend to think that the voting was affected more by people calling in complaining about it since elections are so close.
this gets back to the root of the problem that Americans are stoopid and mis-informed. I don't think the average American understands the problem. They hear the terms "republican", "bailout", "700B" and freak out without looking at the details or repercussions of what is going to happen.
I've tried to keep up with the details of the problem, solution, consequences and barely have a grasp of the situation and solution, but I bet that's better than 99% of the people calling in telling their congress person to vote "no".
This isn't going to end well irregardless, but doing nothing or prolonging a solution, will exacerbate the problem.
mort says that everyday, one day he will be right.
i'm amazed they listened (ns)
Agreed, although I'm sure the upcoming Congressional elections played a part in that.
Got this from Yahoo:
Of the 38 incumbent members of Congress from both parties who are considered vulnerable in the coming election, 30 voted against the bill, and only 8 supported the bill. By contrast, members of Congress from relatively safe districts were evenly divided - 197 for to 198 against.
"i wish GW would have said "the blood is on their hands""
The oil is in their fields

"I've tried to keep up with the details of the problem, solution, consequences and barely have a grasp of the situation and solution, but I bet that's better than 99% of the people calling in telling their congress person to vote "no"."
I'm with you there...doing what I can to keep up. I posted a link last night and this morning and offered an alternative to the bailout that would help, did you read that?
and I think the plan that got voted down yesterday called for 250B now and Congress reviewing and approving the rest.
not just a lump sum 700B
I believe Deke gets his current events from Jonathan Stewert, not the one on the Panthers.
I'm with you there...doing what I can to keep up. I posted a link last night and this morning and offered an alternative to the bailout that would help, did you read that?
yes, I've read it twice, haven't commented on it bc I'm still noodling it through.
i wonder what Thomas Jefferson Johnson voted
hilarity
yes, the plan they were voting on would have given the treasury 250-350B now, and then a review and pumped more money in as necessary.
instead of a economic crisis now we also have a political credibility crisis
"I believe Deke gets his current events from Jonathan Stewert, not the one on the Panthers."
huh? I just like oil.
huh? I just like deep fryer oil.

politicians are dumb.
our nation is led by people who couldn't succeed elsewhere.
"huh? I just like deep fryer oil.

Is that not oil?
"politicians are dumb.
our nation is led by people who couldn't succeed elsewhere."
I agreed with this the 1st time you said it, and I still do.
dude!
steve largent was successful before he became a politician
heath shuler, not so much
however, a lot of politicians were once somewhat successful lawyers. Just sayin...
John Glenn was successful
ed hochuli could be a congressman
Al Gore can save us from this!
Tom Osborne was a little successful
well there is a handful out of the hundreds of politicians we have in the house and senate.
politicians are dumb. the dumbest ones talk the most too.
and the dumbest ones drive bills like the bailout bill.
"Paramount Pictures has signed a deal with Marvel Entertainment to distribute the studio’s next five self-produced film projects:
Iron Man 2 (May 7, 2010)
Thor (July 16, 2010)
The First Avenger: Captain America (May 6, 2011)
The Avengers (July 15, 2011)
Iron Man 3 (Date Not Yet Announced)"
brad pitt will play either thor or capt america.
wasn't the avengers already made?
a lot of movies are already made, look at the hulk, re-made in less than a decade
and both hulks sucked
nice change of subject
ahahahahaha
the expected replacement for Lane Kiffin is Tom Cable, he was one of the worst head coaches in University of Idaho history. He was coaching when I was there, awful awful coach. I hate him.
i hope they give him the job, it would be hilarity.
i sent al davis my resume
Tom Cable took Idaho from being a mediocre team to a horrible bottom 10 team.
if tom cable was coach, idaho would have lost by less than 10 TDs to AZ though
probably not
worst than that is giving up 40+ points to Utar state and SD state...both really shitty teams.
Idaho might be the worse team in the country this year
because you've been wondering
nba powerrankings
"nba power rankings"
Rejoice!
i'm oddly intrigued by the nuggets this upcoming season. I think they'll be better than the "experts" think, but they're not better than the 6 or 7 seed probably.
and that's not reverse jinxing them, that's straight jinxing them.
i think they'll win 50 games again this year, which isn't a bad number.
Bucks are winning 55 this year.
ugh, nba
too soon
The Nfl season is 1/4th of the way over, it's time to start looking ahead.
Wow
"the funny thing is, no matter what happens, i'll always remember GW as will farrell portrayed him on SNL...
that, and the "we won't be fooled again" speech."
My mind is bottled that you won't remember "strategery"
NBA sucks.
strategery is will farrell
When is Tyler going to set up the LOV league on Y!?
"strategery is will farrell"
Oh, I thought GW really said that.

On this day in 1913...

Dave Ramsey
again...I'm just posting it as another option to bailout
I can't explain all that stuff.
that's a decent proposal.
the accounting fix isn't anything major. The problem isn't that the banks have accounting losses, it's that they have cashflow losses. GM has huge accounting losses but they have positive cashflow, thus they don't go out of business.
and removing the capital gains tax makes sense in theory, but that creates a deficit for the government as well. I'm not sure what the total tax collected in capital gains tax on an annual basis is, but my guess is it would be a good chunk of change.
my reaction to most of what's been said today is a ::blank stare::
the difference though, is that the proposal there lets the economy fix itself through a change in policy, which is much more free-market, as opposed to the government writing a blank check.
"I can't explain all that stuff."

i'm outta here, half day today...woo hoo
Too bad fake drunk tem isn't here today.
Fake drunk Tem was cranky
blue actually makes some sense about the capital gains thing, def cut into the tax income the gubment makes
insuring the subprime mortgages thing makes little sense to me, seems like the same thing as the gubment buying the debit with the 700B
looks like they want to give home owners more time to pay thier mortages, avoiding foreclosures, good idea in theory but chances are if a homeowner is in danger of losing thier house in March chances are a couple of incentives will probably only stall the inevtiable
golden parachutes, everyone agrees with that
