so flex....girl....time to have sex........

Skins/G-Men flexed - niiice.

wanted to c-n-p this from yesterday's comments:

I've got mixed feelings on Tebow winning.

1) His team wasn't "good" as far as a title contender goes. His team lost what, 3 games? Without him they lose say 6? So with or without him the team ain't winning anything of significance.

2) He is a system QB (so is Brennan though). But he did run that system flawlessly. But still the majority of his rushing TD's were inside the 5 yd line.

"Look at Gino Torretta," said Tuberville, referring to the 1992 Heisman-winning quarterback from Miami. Tuberville coached the linebackers on that team. "He was the product of a system he ran for five years. He learned how to run it. Tebow was the old single wing quarterback. He just ran the ball and threw it. You can score 20 [rushing] touchdowns if, every time you get the ball inside the five, they call your number."

3) Taking 1 and 2 into account his numbers don't really impress me for a Heisman contender.

With all that said I don't think there was a better clear cut choice so he kinda wins by default. It depends on what your definition of Heisman is.....is it the MVP? Best player on the best team? Best player outright? I don't think Tebow is the answer to any of these questions.

I think McFadden was the best overall but he has the same holes in his resume as Tebow does. If I had a vote, I'd have Brennan winning. He was the MVP of his team, one of the top players in the country and put up gaudy stats. With him, his team had a school best season and went undefeated. Without him they wouldn't have. Seems simple to me. The only monkey wrench to this line of thinking is HI's schedule or lack of SOS.

As for Tebow, I think he'll end up being one of those Rashan Saalam/Weurffel/White/Crouch type winners were, 5-10 years later, you have this convo:

"Who won the Heisman that season? ummmm? McFadden? nah....Tebow? nah it was....wait it was Tebow, yeah it was Tebow......ahahahaahah, man that guy sucked in the pros".

but congrats none-the-less......I guess. And I realize a pro-career or pro-prospects have zero bearing on the Heisman.

And I think he also had the "hey its about time an underclassmen won it" thing going for him. Let's hope for a career threatening injury and/or death in the off-season. He is the college version of Brett Farve for the media. Corso wants to get an apartment with the guy.

Fight Night: All-around a decent card, def worth the money. I was surprised Manfredo went the distance with Lacy and that the decision was close.

As for the main event, it was solid. A lot of times mega-fights fail to live up to the hype but I think the ending helped solidify this fight as entertaining. Hatton seemed to be wearing down and coupled with PBF figuring out his style, the ending wasn't as surprising as you might first think it is. Lederman had a close fight but the judges had Floyd winning by a wide margin, interesting.

You have to start thinking about Floyd's place in history. What's up next for him? I'd love to see him take on Cotto.

The Colts are destroying the Ravens.

And it's glorious.

The Colts are running out the clock in the first half.

From the weekend post...
"TJ is getting better and better; Dallas isn't that great..."

Not that great? Huh? Is this based on one close game against Detroit?

JFreak said...

I'm surprised that Billick is refusing to to get Troy Smith some playing time.

Kyle Boller obviously isn't the answer for the future, might as well give the rookie a shot.

blue said...

hahahahahaha....

Troy Smith...that's funny

blue said...

i came to a seriously shitty realization today...the fucking patriots are going to draft McFadden...fuck them

JFreak said...

Troy Smith looked kind of decent.

Then again, he was going up against the Colts practice squad.

Keith S said...

I think the Pats will trade the pick. They won't want to pay the kind of money a pick that high would demand.

blue said...

I would have thought that too about them trading the pick...but if they have the chance to take next years version of purple jesus...you have to make that pick right?

Horrible coaching by me in the keeper league.

Keeping thomas jones and jerricho cotchery on the bench against a bad cleveland defense.

That makes sense.

yeah, they are a lending bank...they'd probably mess up on your interest rate and double it.

or maybe you can get 7 days worth of interest for 13 days which would be a bargain.

I'm going to have a new heisbow myth every day.

In the second half, New England ran the ball three times -- and just two of those were designed running plays. In one stretch, the Patriots called 33 consecutive pass plays, and they didn't have a designed run in the second half until only 2:49 remained in the game.

I went to a Christmas party this weekend at a house that cost 1.5 million dollars and was over 7,000 square feet. (And surprisingly, the owner was NOT an attorney.) Why do people need so much house for a family of 5?? It was gorgeous but still.

And to tie this into sports :-), it was in the same neighborhood as Vick's house and they said everyone in the neighborhood was glad when they learned he was selling his house there.

El Padrino said...

El Padrino said...

cant catch a break in that keeper, without looking on how the scoring is setup how does addai bring in 25 points off 13 carries for 32 yards and two touchdowns while Grant has 29 carries, 156 yards and a TD and has 21 points

Also Barber with 28 off 3td's, two rushing, one receiving

just dumb

next year lets fix the scoring system, it's obviously flawed
(i;e no bonuses for going over 25 carries, or over 100 yards or over 150 yards, etc.)

blue said...

addai's numbers are weird for him to score that many points...did he have a lot of receiving yards?

ToddPacker said...

"tp, u gusy tailgated the hesibow?"

nope just a real late night of boozing.... watched the heisman show at my place then went out to a bar, then came back to my place for more drinking.... i think i went to bed (the couch) at like 6:00am.... still paying for it

El Padrino said...

his receiving yards were 3 rec for 49 yards

ToddPacker said...

i won't be going to the Florida/UM bowl game... this makes me mad

Linda said...

Addai had 2 rushing TDs and a receiving TD.

El Padrino said...

meanwhile Barber had 10 for 61 yards!!!!!

and only had 28!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE FUCK!

ToddPacker said...

i won my $$$ league and lost in the y! and keeper this week

El Padrino said...

Barber had 3 td's total, 2 rushing one rec

7 for 43 on the ground
10 for 61 in the air
FF points = 28

addai had 2 td's total
13 for 32 on the ground
3 for 49 in the air
FF points = 25

dumb

blue said...

ok, if addai got that 3rd TD, that makes sense in his scoring.

Linda said...

elp...Addai also caught one TD.

Linda said...

Did you lose the game in the league you are talking about elp?

blue said...

is the keeper league PPR?

blue said...

TP...you might still beat me in the keeper league, you're up 7

El Padrino said...

yeah i lost and even with the 3rd td by Addai barbers numbers are better, and not 3 points better

El Padrino said...

just whining

i should be 9 and 4 in that league
with all the points i left on the bench this year

i take full responsibility

tem said...

you can't beat blair and jo.

El Padrino said...

but serious we have to at least look at the setting before next year, Grant pulled in 38 & 35 points in my other two $$ leagues

tem said...

i thought the keeper league was PPR??

El Padrino said...

that's a fact of life tem

blue said...

I'm not sure how you find out how many points total you've scored in the keeper league, to break tiebreakers to get into the playoffs...

it looks like there will be a 3 way tie between Zeke, Freak, and hickhops anonymous for the final playoff spot.

tem said...

3 TDS >>>> 1 TD.

you make up 12 points right there, which is about half of the scoring for both those players.

blue said...

I see what you're saying EP about the bonuses for going over 100 yards and such...but the goal is to score, so i'm not a fan of a guy who doesn't score TDs getting a shitload of points because statistically he had a good day...maybe we should simplify it, and only get points for TDs (s)

blue said...

my money league has some crazy escalators, like you get 4 extra points for a TD catch of 80 yards or more...and things like that...sometimes it's difficult for my small mind to figure it all out.

Beth said...

Right about now Tem would normally say "TMFFT", but as he's actively involved this time I guess I should say it.

Linda said...

I agree with Blue on not getting a ton of points for yards. I was in a league where you got a point for every yard rushing or receiving. Sorry, but 60 yards rushing is not = to a TD.

tem said...

tem likes leagues that only reward scoring and say fuck you to yardage totals.

1pt for a TD <10
2pt for a TD 11-20
3pt for a TD 21-30

etc...

tem said...

i like it when the final score is 12-8.

blue said...

"TMFFT"

sorry beth.

how about FNBA talk then...I finally won a matchup...and so did EP...looks like our trade worked out for both sides...Amare was not good in the lockerroom and was dragging my team down with his trade demands.

El Padrino said...

TD remains the same ok
what i'm saying is, it should be more balanced, i'm not talking about crazy bonuses

for instance Grant had 38 right
he hit 3 bonuses

one for over 100 yards = 2
one for over 150 yards = 5
one for over 25 carries = 5

those are not out of control, in my mind at least

more annoyed at barber, 10 catches should trigger some sort of bonus

and guys fantasy football is based on stats of which carries, yards, receptions, etc are stats not just td's, i agree it's most important to have the guys on your team that score the most but what's the fantasy in fantasy football if we are just giving out basic stats?

iamBigBrotha'sBrotha said...

EP, is this the 'shoulda' game?

Linda said...

No points for field goals?

blue said...

"1pt for a TD <10
2pt for a TD 11-20
3pt for a TD 21-30"

heisbow would have a lot of 1 pointers

El Padrino said...

that's just boring tem

blue said...

EP-
Those aren't crazy escalators...in a free league i guess it's just easier to keep it simple though...

El Padrino said...

yeah, except the shoulda dates back to when the league was set up

i'll stop

Linda said...

10 catches should trigger a bonus.

Linda said...

This is how our league works...

4 - 9 Recpts = .5 points for every 1 Recpt
10 - 10 Recpts = 1 point for every 1 Recpt
11 - 12 Recpts = .5 points for every 1 Recpt
13 - 15 Recpts = 1 point for every 1 Recpt
16 - 16 Recpts = 1.5 points for every 1 Recpt

I've never played in a league with bonuses.
