The Lonely Bull

I seriously have nothing going today. Why do they call it taking a dump, when you're actually leaving it?(I stole that from Beavis & Butthead)

It's New Year's Eve. I'll be staying home most likely. Never done that before. I'm sure TP's been staying home on NYE since he was 40.

Another weekend of football gone, another small
fortune lost by EP. Get that pole warmed up, she's gonna need it.

I've lost a lot of interest in the NBA season already. Fantasy is the only thing that makes me care.

Oooh. For those of you embarking on The Great Lordz Of Vengeance Fantasy Golf Experiment, you need to get your selections in on Wednesday, I believe.

My insides hurt. Maybe its all in my head. I'm exhausted now.

I like Japanese girls.

16-0
14-2
13-3
12-4
11-5
10-6

Not much time till pitchers & catchers.

I'm quitting smoking. Squares go up 1.25 a pack on Jan 1st. No thanks.

Wow, reading a Deke post is like being inside his head. I like it. (ns)

I especially liked the line to EP, "Get that pole warmed up, she's gonna need it."

i've got so many things that I would love to get accomplished today.

iamunstoppable said...

i wish i worked til midnight.

Beth said...

I'm sure your bosses would let y'all stay late if you really wanted to. Go ahead and ask.

tem said...

I'd ask but they are all in the bahammas on vacation. They don't know what they are missing here.

Beth said...

Even better, if they're not there not only can you work more than a half day today but I'm sure you can just sleep there so you can work more tomorrow.

iamunstoppable said...

brb, gotta set up my cot

Beth said...

There's the spirit iam!

tem said...

i might start sleeping here.

work is so fun. i'm not sure why i would want to leave.

that is just a great idea beth.

I saw meiz on a commercial this weekend. It was a UPS-whiteboard commercial. Have you guys seen those? (s)

anyway, meiz, you need a haircut buddy...start the new year off right.

blue said...

damn, the lady who calls a macro a "mackrel" is here today. I think it might just be me and her this morning, and she's already annoying me with her mackrel talk.

tem said...

she is a coworker of yours so you need to treat her with respect.

Beth said...

Who are you and what have you done with Tem?

tem said...

ok, being nice sucks.

kick her in the face and tell her "it is a macro you dumb bitch!!!"

nobody is around to see you do it. perfect crime.

tem said...

"Who are you and what have you done with Tem?"

i was trying on 'nice' to see if it fit.

it did not.

blue said...

I might just leave a post-it note on her desk saying "it's macro, not mackrel"

blue said...

avoid confrontation, that's my motto

tem said...

tell her it is "micro" just to really fuck with her.

tem said...

because it is "a small program."

Beth said...

"i was trying on 'nice' to see if it fit"

There is no place for nice at LOV.

tem said...

wow pete carroll and ron zook look eerily similar to one another.

blue said...

who is this Ron Zook you speak of?

blue said...

so I take it that Chuck Lidell whooped some ass this weekend.

tem said...

yeah liddell did very well.

so did st. pierre.

the UFC fights were real good. at least the last 2 of the night.

tem said...

ron zook coach of illinois.

On the contrary, I did not.

El Padrino said...

and deke you should quit smoking because it turns your insides to shit and you'll die

but if that's the plan then by all means.....

El Padrino said...

spike ball.

El Padrino said...

fuck the pats

but it makes you feel all warm inside.

El Padrino said...

Stoudemire is averaging 27.2 points and 11.8 boards while shooting 66.3 percent from the field in his last five games.

thanks blue

Mills said...

not a good 5 minutes for toomer on sat. night.

real bad turning point in the game for us.

El Padrino said...

yo jints had them, don't even front
manning had one bad series and it was over, fuck i hate them but they dont make any mistakes

Mills said...

Packer > LOV when it comes to pick 'em. Only I am his equal in the college game. But combined pro and college, nobody knows as much as the old man.

El Padrino said...

you have to play perfect for all 60 minutes, that's too much pressure for any team

they should roll to phoenix

blue said...

"Stoudemire is averaging 27.2 points and 11.8 boards while shooting 66.3 percent from the field in his last five games.

thanks blue"

No Problem...

Deng is averaging 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists in his last four games

and

Wallace is averaging 23.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.1 steals while shooting 51.4 percent from the field in his last seven games.

Mills said...

anyone else midly suprised that ELP is not a smoker?

blue said...

I needed the depth, and it's worked out for me and moved me into a tie for 5th place.

tem said...

i am mildly surprised yes.

El Padrino said...

blue i aint knocking the trade

great trade that has helped both of us, i was able to get rid of randolph and get a more versatile player in Iggy due to Stat's rebounding prowess

blue said...

I am not mildly surprised, because he has other vices...gambling and food.

El Padrino said...

smoking is a horrific habit, you'd be surprised on how many new yorkers dont smoke

El Padrino said...

food is king

blue said...

I know you weren't knocking the trade, it has worked well for both sides.

El Padrino said...

it has

Beth said...

I'm guessing EP smokes things other than tobacco.

Beth said...

In fact, hasn't he admitted as much on here?

blue said...

Colorado's punt returner had a ball bounce off the top of his helmet last night. How the fuck do you misjudge a punt that badly that it hits you square in the top of the head?

El Padrino said...

i was a tremendous pothead back in the day even sold it for a little bit, i quit that about 4 years ago

miss the shit out of it though

tem said...

beth thinks EP smokes pole?

blue said...

I have smoked one cigarette in my life (i was extremely drunk at the time) and never smoked weed.

tem said...

maybe the wind took it blue.

tem said...

cigs once when i was 7. hurt like hell.

cigs and pot once, maybe twice, each in college when i was hammered and some hot chick axed me.

tem said...

apparently we were allowed to wear jeans to work today.

tem never wears jeans to work though.

kodiac said...

being a smoker is depressing. I don't care about the health aspect, but they keep jacking up the price....and I gotta keep shelling out more money like a sucka (now I spend about $45 a week on cigs)

kodiac said...

-when I started cigs were about 1.50 a pack; now it's around 4.25

tem said...

$45 a week is more than I spend on breakfast and lunch combined.

kodiac said...

yeah, it comes out to almost $2500 a year....yikes

blue said...

Imagine if Kod cleaned up and quit the cigs and CL...he'd be insufferable, but he could afford to buy a mansion probably.

blue said...

or a McMansion

tem said...

are all the recent price increases because the gov't keeps raising the "sin" tax on cigs or is it because the companies are raising the price to pay for their lost lawsuit??

Beth said...

I can't stand cigarette smoke. Best thing Georgia ever did was pass the anti-smoking law where you can't smoke in restaurants or public places.

Beth said...

Kod, you realize cigarette smoking stunts your growth, right? :-)

kodiac said...

are all the recent price increases because the gov't keeps raising the "sin" tax on cigs or is it because the companies are raising the price to pay for their lost lawsuit??

it's both, but at least in MN, it's a lot more because of the "sin" tax. About a year ago they increased the tax by $1.25

kodiac said...

Kod, you realize cigarette smoking stunts your growth, right? :-)

I wish I could use that an an excuse, but I'm the tallest in my family

ns

El Padrino said...

"I can't stand cigarette smoke. Best thing Georgia ever did was pass the anti-smoking law where you can't smoke in restaurants or public places."

NYC started it, I think....

kodiac said...

NYC started it, I think....

I think Los Angeles did

Mills said...

I can't stand cigarette smoke. Best thing Georgia ever did was pass the anti-smoking law where you can't smoke in restaurants or public places.
------
I HATE HATE HATE smoke, and the smell of it, HOWEVER, I think the above-described bans as bullshit. You should not be able to tell a private company what they can and cannot do in their business.

tem said...

"I think Los Angeles did"

i think ohio did.

tem said...

nah, i just made that up.

but we have the law too.

Beth said...

Yeah, I knew GA didn't start it, they aren't exactly a trend-setting state.

And Mills, I can empathize with your objection to the anti-smoking laws, but this is one time I'll sacrifice a little freedom for comfort. (And please spare me the slippery slope argument, I know all about that...)

El Padrino said...

i'm on the fence, i like the fact that i dont smell like an ashtray after a night at the bar though

kodiac said...

I HATE HATE HATE smoke, and the smell of it, HOWEVER, I think the above-described bans as bullshit. You should not be able to tell a private company what they can and cannot do in their business.

A few years back (before the statewide ban) Minneapolis enacted a ban, but St. Paul didn't. There were many pissed off bar and restaurant owners on the Minneapolis border.

tem said...

just to start some shit:

restaurants are private businesses because anyone from the public can come in.

if they want to avoid the smoking ban they need to let only "members" in. some places do that in some states (WV for sure) they charge a $1 "membership fee" so they are not a public restaurant, but instead a private club.

anyway, that is why the public restaurants have to comply with the ban.

blue said...

fuck you mills and your bleeding heart.

What gives some asshole smoker the right to clog up my lungs if i'm a waitress or a bartender?

Beth said...

In Georgia, restaurants can allow smoking as long as they limit their customers to those over 18. So smoking is fine at bars.

Beth said...

"just to start some shit"

Good to see the "nice" tem is long gone.

kodiac said...

What gives some asshole smoker the right to clog up my lungs if i'm a waitress or a bartender?

nobody forces anyone to be a waitress or bartender.

blue said...

"nobody forces anyone to be a waitress or bartender."

so I should have to limit my dreams of being like Tom Cruise in Cocktail because some asshole wants to smoke in a bar?

blue said...

next thing Mills is going to say is that women should have the right to vote...what a crock

kodiac said...

so I should have to limit my dreams of being like Tom Cruise in Cocktail because some asshole wants to smoke in a bar?

-plenty of restaurants and bars decide to be smoke-free even without being forced.

tem said...

oops my starting shit thing should have said restaurants are NOT private businesses.....

iamunstoppable said...

if i am near a smoker, i feel it is my right, nay, my DUTY to rip ass.

i smell you, u smell me.

blue said...

to me it's not about telling a business that they can't have smoking because smoking is bad. It's about not having smoking because it's hazardous to its employees.

for example, lets say that OSHA doesn't require any safety equipment in construction jobs (hard hats, tethers, whatever)...how is that any different?

kodiac said...

for example, lets say that OSHA doesn't require any safety equipment in construction jobs (hard hats, tethers, whatever)...how is that any different?

that's a good point

ns

blue said...

I guess the argument could still be made that you get to choose whether you want to be a construction worker/waiter/bartender...and that they know the inherent risks that are undertaken with that job.

kodiac said...

If government didn't need the tax revenue so badly, the next step would probably be to make cigs illegal.
-I don't think big tobacco has much power anymore

tem said...

OSHA doesn't control the public though.

If I want to go sit at a construction site and smoke, I can.

Of course I can't get close enough to really affect the construction workers.

But anyway, the point is OSHA can control employees, but not customers.

blue said...

OSHA is there to protect employees...if you as Joe Q. Public started doing something that endangered the employees at the jobsite, the employer would be regulated on how to prevent Joe Q. Public from doing that.

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

blue said...

but in the end, I feel the pain of smokers who are addicted and keep getting sin taxes raised like crazy on them. Imagine if gasoline prices just kept going up and up and up.

blue said...

One economist recently suggested that the US should increase the gas tax to where gas costs about $5/gallon. Like it is in Europe...he had his points, but fuck that guy.

tem said...

you just made that up.

tem said...

about OSHA and JQP.

blue said...

"you just made that up."

no, his argument was that it would lower income taxes...actually reduce gasoline consumption...and the tax money could be used for public transportation improvements.

he made good points because it works well in Europe, but fuck europe

blue said...

"about OSHA and JQP"

oh, yeah, i made that up

tem said...

FYI from the bible:

In 1990, the city of San Luis Obispo, California became the first city in the world to ban indoor smoking at all public places, including bars and restaurants.[27]

kodiac said...

no, his argument was that it would lower income taxes...actually reduce gasoline consumption...and the tax money could be used for public transportation improvements.

it would completely fuck over people in rural communities....I know it would devastate the reservations up here.

tem said...

yeah i agree about the gas tax.

i mean i agree about the points he made.

what he forgets is that the average european lives like 5 feet from work and the average US person lives about 20 miles from work.

US is a whole lot fucking bigger than France or England, etc., we need to drive to get places.

blue said...

I totally agree with both of you...dude was probably an easterner

tem said...

europe can have some slow ass energy efficient trolley that gets some dude to work quickly because dude lives about 5 feet from work.

that dog won't hunt in the US.

blue said...

plus the fact that you know the US government would end up spending that money on something like a war or the space program, or on hookers.

tem said...

"something like a war or the space program, or on hookers."

nah they would probably waste it on welfare or health care instead of spending on worthwhile things like war and space and hookers.

tem said...

FYI Browns fans here still haven't stopped crying about not making the playoffs at 10-6 and Indy resting its starters.

hahahaha, EAD Browns fans.

blue said...

browns should have beaten Cincy if they wanted to make the playoffs.

tem said...

yep.

blue said...

so if you're joe gibbs, and Jason Campbell is your QB of the future, and he's healthy, you have to start him this weekend right?

blue said...

or do you go with Todd Collins because "he's hot and has earned it"...knowing that you aren't going to win the NFC either way.

tem said...

i start Doug Williams because "he's done it for us before."

El Padrino said...

fuck it's busy
everyone and they mama trying to move money and securities today

El Padrino said...

todd collins is the obvious call

Same thanks go out to Carson Palmer. Single handedly cost me money.

blue said...

Eli cost me cash last week as well

tem said...

You expect Eli to crap the bed though.

Carson usually is solid, but when fantasy playoffs rolled around he was scoring about 2 or 3 fantasty points a game.

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

Any good bowl games today? I'm too lazy to look

Keith S said...

Did you just say Carson is fantasty?

tem said...

yeah he got 2 or 3 fantasty points.

Keith S said...

Yeah, when I pick up Sage Rosenfels for the championship game to avoid playing Eli, that's probably not good.

Keith S said...

There are 6 games today deke. I'm too lazy to list them for you, though.

6 games on today

best one i would say is Clemson/auburn

cal has the deck stacked against them anyway...the bowl is the "armed forces" bowl, of which Air Force is part of the armed forces...also it's sponsored by Bell Helicopters, and the airforce has lots of helicopter experience...so Cal is screwed all around.

They're not playing cards, they're playing football
