i'll go on record and say i liked the sopranos ending... phil getting his head popped by the SUV, aj going 0 to 60 on joining the army and then becoming a asst producer with a beamer, tony going to see uncle jun, the last 2 minutes at the diner.... all good stuff... chase with a big middle finger in the end... he left the door wide open for a movie or a bonus short season down the road

ToddPacker said...

nice series by the tigers... the tigers lineup is solid and the mets are playing like crap lately... d wright is grooving though

El Padrino said...

from rev's post.

"I think they should just cancel the Belmont Stakes if different horses win the Derby and the Preakness. Would anyone really care if they did this?"

I care.

ToddPacker said...

i lived in elmont for 8 years i would care too

ToddPacker said...

mets have lost 3 series in a row and 6 of the last 7 games... at least then still have a 2.5 game lead over the braves... hopefully the put together a little winning streak and get their head right against the dodgers

El Padrino said...

i liked it too
i knew it was going to be anti-climatic....Carll flippin, the FBI guy living the same life as a mobster as far as infedility, AJ, Janice wanting June's money, Sil really fucked up and Paulie and the Cat (which was a re-incarnation of Adriana, duh)

i was nervous though that the mutt at the diner counter was going to snuff out big T, he was the same guy in Carlito's way (the son of the fat mobster that Penn and Pacino killed)

El Padrino said...

fucking mets, fucking glavine gets 3 runs early and pisses them away

last week he was whining about run support

El Padrino said...

phil gettin a hole in his head then the car thing was fucking great

ToddPacker said...

the cat was funny... i like paulies quote about sucking the life out of babies

tem said...

i liked the part where they participated in some illegal activity and then talked about it

tem said...

what? well i tried.

El Padrino said...

agent harris has a hairy chest

El Padrino said...

i'm thinking if your rocking a mink the no shirt clause in your contract in key

ToddPacker said...

"what? well i tried."

just like timmy would say to brutus "....you always do"

ebntx said...

was agent harris the male or female agent?

ToddPacker said...

"agent harris has a hairy chest"

he didn't have a shirt on in that scene?

(s)

ToddPacker said...

i really don't know or care, but who won game two in the spus/cavs electric finals

ebntx said...

i watched just to see the ending and i am thinking that when the movie version comes out it will start out with the diner scene and tony getting popped by the guy at the counter coming out of the bathroom.

ToddPacker said...

just heard in on the radio spurs up 2-0...

tem said...

Spurs won 4-0.

They just haven't told anyone yet.

El Padrino said...

obviously tony is being indicted so i think if anything happens further it will start in a courtroom

El Padrino said...

how do you say mvp in french?

Beth said...

Well I'll go on record and say I didn't like the Sopranos final episode. Other than Phil's death (a great scene at least) it didn't really go anywhere. Did we really need 5 minutes (ok, I know it really wasn't 5 minutes but it sure felt like it) of Meadow trying to parallel park?

I think they were too concerned with leaving it open for a movie in the future.

Iam Yay-Soos said...

good morning my ass.

stop with all the talking so early.

Iam Yay-Soos said...

scoreboard?

ebntx said...

i have watched this commercial many, many times and never noticed that greg oden with d-wade co-starred as the kids coach.

lincoln

tem said...

the tigers with 15 won someone about 600$ in that 15 run league thing I am in.

ebntx said...

you could make a joke about that being a football score, but the lions could never score 15 pts in a game.

ToddPacker said...

the tigers are good.... it would have been funny if they blew that lead on sat., seemed like they were tying to

ToddPacker said...

did you and ep ever bet anything on the series?

El Padrino said...

no. thankfully

El Padrino said...

what's with that park and those fucking birds

Iam Yay-Soos said...

btw,
great headline

Iam Yay-Soos said...

Tig's put in fricking Grilli and Rodney, we WERE trying to give it away.

funny thing, i called (to the pitch) the jack that Grilli gave up. he was so on-cue.. it was terrible.

El Padrino said...

arent those seagulls?

silly me, detroit has wonderful beaches.

WTF

El Padrino said...

iam, a budy of mine was there
i'm going to copy and paste his impressions of Detroit

Iam Yay-Soos said...

the seagulls were a new addition. we wanted the NY'ers to feel at home.

Iam Yay-Soos said...

let me guess, he liked one street (greektown) and the stadium.. everything else was shitty.

El Padrino said...

my friends take on DEE-troit
not as bad as you think but:

"Saturday was a fantastic day for a game, high-70s, nary a cloud in the
sky. We were 10 rows back from the rail in the lower deck along the
left field line, so good seats. I would say a surprisingly high amount
of Met fans in attendance, almost everywhere you looked, you saw one or
a group representing. Good start with Beltran stealing that run in the
first, but...the stadium is real nice, as most of the new ones are.
Way, way too many statues and ornamental heads of tigers (the animals,
not the players) around the joint. Completely overdone in that respect.
$8.50 beers, wow. Tiger fans are pretty respectful, given their riotous
history. Probably partially due to the fact that the Met-Tiger rivalry
level is below that of nearly every other pair of teams we can think of.
Anyway, if Delgado had come through here or there, it might have been a
different outcome. And I was almost certain that Jones was going to
choke it up in the 9th, instead he comes on and strikes out Reyes and
Valentin right off the bat (and this from a guy who had like 8 Ks the
whole year!). Maddening.

After the game, we went to Cheli's bar/restaurant (owned by Chris
Chelios). Completely packed, but it was a big place, so there was
plenty of room. Lots of good looking ladies. Good fight between a few
drunken Tiger fans and a very large brown bouncer. Yes, this is the
same Cheli's where someone got whacked a few months ago by a disgruntled
ex-employee. No police outline tape on the floor, I looked. Finally,
Detroit is a screwed up city. It is all ancient buildings built in like
1905, more than half of them are abandoned (including some tall office
buildings), and everything else is vacant lots. You could almost feel
the danger in the air when we walked back to the parking garage when we
left Cheli's. I would compare it to the south Bronx in the 70's or
something. We stayed in a hotel waaaay out in the suburbs. That's all
I got. "

Iam Yay-Soos said...

"You could almost feel the danger in the air when we walked back to the parking garage when we left Cheli's."

this sums up everything.

El Padrino said...

i knew you would like that line

so my question, is he dead on?
(this kid has been to just about every MLB stadium)

Iam Yay-Soos said...

in a word: yes

El Padrino said...

"You could almost feel the danger in the air"

good line... i guess you could say that about some parts of atlanta, but you could say that about parts of any large city

El Padrino said...

Iam Yay-Soos said...

well outside of the one street of restaurants and right near the stadium, there is absolutely nothing of worth.

i dont care who you are, u look over your shoulder at least once, but most likely numerous times..

El Padrino said...

o 4 sho iam

tem said...

When I first saw the post I thought SS died in a plane crash.

El Padrino said...

that would have been cool tem

David Chase supposedly had that final scene picked out since he first created the show. Seriously? His writing got a lot better I guess.

and to bring back what I said last night on LoV..

Ending it with Journey...made me laugh histerically

did anyone else notice that the gas station where Phil got whacked the gas prices were $2.50/gallon?

this scene was obviously not set in present day america.

ToddPacker said...

cheap gas.... i thought the same thing, blue...

El Padrino said...

Federer going down to Nadal in the French...again. Ouch. I really thought he had broken through a couple of weeks ago when he finally beat him on clay.

Nobody has mentioned SA-Cavs yet. Actually that is understandable, cuz the championship was decided in the Spurs-Suns series in the conference semi's (sad). Did anybody watch the whole game. I watched a bit in the 3rd quarter. Nothing really made me want to watch anymore.

Mills said...

Also -- Spring Awakening did a nice ass-kicking at the Tony's.

New Yorkers - Good show? Worth seeing?

Mills said...

tetherball rocks!

tem said...

are you asking people for advice on a musical??

blue said...

i asked my wife that if we have a daughter if we could name it Deb after the chick in that movie...she was not amused

tem said...

i watched about 4 seconds of the game.

Just a reminder of what transpired Friday, if anybody gets any idea about going gangsta rap quotes.

And also, yes, wondering if it is good.

Tony's are a big deal yo.

blue said...

yeah, the nuggets didn't have the best weekend did they?

first JR Smith gets thrown from his SUV in a crash,

then their 11th man gets tasered for trying to break up an argument between to hoochies.

One of my all-time favorite teams is the 1966 Chicago Cubs. That team had four Hall of Famers on it (Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Ferguson Jenkins and Robin Roberts) one near Hall of Famer (Ron Santo), a former batting champ (Harvey Kuenn), a Gold Glove catcher (Randy Hundley), a future six-time All-Star shortstop (Don Kessinger), a future four-time All-Star second baseman (Glenn Beckert), a future 20-game winner (Ken Holtzman), FIVE past 20-game winners not even including Roberts (Ernie Broglio, Dick Ellsworth, Bill Hands, Billy Hoeft and Larry Jackson), a pitcher who won 18 games as a rookie (Chuck Estrada), a batter who once hit .330 with 24 homers in only 294 at-bats (Wes Covington) and three OTHER run of the mill former All-Stars (George Altman, Lee Thomas and Frank Thomas).

Oh yeah, that team was also managed by a Hall of Famer (Leo Durocher).

That Cubs team lost 103 games. One ... hundred ... and ... three ... games. Seriously, could any team better represent the Chicago Cubs? I hope last year on their 40th anniversary they were honored at Wrigley Field.

blue said...

"Don't stop...believing....HOLD ON TO THAT FEEEEEELIIING!"

tem said...

Frank Thomas played for the White Sox, not the Cubs.

wtf was all that stuff?

blue said...

tem...just ignore him

Iam Yay-Soos said...

every time i hear that journey song i think of when it was played on one of those mtv shows... laguna beach or something. i saw one episode where 2 spoiled brats went on a date, and they were rocking that song in the car..

funny. yet sad, cause they were fo'reel.

Iam Yay-Soos said...

I think this was considered season 3 that just ended of the office

isiah thomas said...

the fight was pretty good.

Zudah had just enough power in his left to somewhat hurt Cotto but not finish him.

Judah - for as brittle as his chin is, held up reasonably well till the later rounds when he ran out of gas.

I think the assault on his nuts hurt him in the end though.
