Original Works from Japan

I've watched at least 12 Sportscenters in the past 3 days. One would think this would leave me prepared for a posting, but I've realized very quickly that I have very little to say as usual.

Watched IU beat a real good Wisconsin team last night. I was a little bit worried when Sampson was hired, but he really looks like he knows what he is doing. I still would have liked Knight to come back, but that was never going to happen. Only thing that pissed me off about the game was the end when the stupid kids stormed the court. IU is a top 25 team, at home, during the middle of the regular season. There is no reason to be celebrating out on the court. Despite that, if you have a chance to, go see a game at Assembly Hall, just a great atmosphere.

I've decided the Super Bowl will come down to which returner fumbles more. Neither Terrence Wilkins nor Devin Hester are particularly good ball handlers. Hester definitely has the advantadge in the being good department. But, he also leads Wilkins in fumbles, 7 to 5. If they tie in fumbles, I say the Colts win. If Wilkins beats Hester in fumbles, the Bears make this really, really close. If Hester leads Wilkins, Colts win in a blowout. (I really want to thank ESPN.com for not helping find the fumble stats for these two players. Both of these players' prime position is KR/PR, and one of the more important stats as a KR/PR is whether or not you hold onto the ball. Morons.)

Okay, I got a some links to throw at you today.

INTERCEPTION! MARLIN JACKSON! MARLIN'S GOT IT! WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL! WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!

What a great marketing scheme.

And, just because I'm feeling nice...(and I feel as though I may have posted one of these vids before) you get two, that's right TWO, videos today.

You forgot one thing.

temwr said...

Fuck AXE.

temwr said...

I must say I spent my morning commute wondering 2 things:

1) How dumb are these radio DJs really? Is this an act or are they really this stupid.

2) What video will jfreak post?

Now I will go watch said videos.

ToddPacker said...

eb, that pic from last nights comments was frightening...

ToddPacker said...

mutumbo'd on the vids..as usual

temwr said...

I learned something today about grapes.

ToddPacker said...

meiz, you OK with the badgers loss last night (stupid question, i guess)...i was hoping to read some funny-drunk-pissed off comments about the game last night

ToddPacker said...

grapes are made from AXE?

temwr said...

Go HOOOSIERS.

Storming the court is retarded if it is an Indiana regular season win over Wisconsin.

temwr said...

No grapes explode in the microwave and let off toxic fire gas or something. Or so a youtube video would lead me to believe.

And just like with wikipedia I take anything that is on youtube as being 100% accurate and true.

temwr said...

Not that Wisconsin is not a good team, but storming the court is still retarded.

temwr said...

TMQ is doing a chat today at 3pm.

I bet it sucks.

temwr said...

And the Madden Game predictor has:

Colts 38
Bears 27

ToddPacker said...

IU stormed the court (i didn't see the highlights)?....

that is retarded.

whocares said...

TP,

I saw your boys get a little scare in the first half from the Dores.

Nice turnaround in the second half though.

temwr said...

Re: Hoosiers

From what most likely is an AP article on the WWL.

"Ratliff scored 18 of his season-high 20 points in the second half and Indiana held off No. 2 Wisconsin 71-66 on Wednesday night, ending the Badgers' 17-game winning streak. But before Ratliff and the rest of his teammates could get off the court, several thousand delirious fans stormed out of the stands and onto the floor in celebration."

ToddPacker said...

"I saw your boys get a little scare in the first half from the Dores."

yea, i was real worried in the 1st half...UF was down 12 a couple of times...they were having trouble with vandy's zone "D"...they played well in the 2nd half and Humphrey was light out with the 3's

Martin VanNostrand said...

Oh and JFreak, there is a Jimmy Johns here. I see them deliver to the office all the time. I will have to try it someday.

ToddPacker said...

Lee Humphrey is shooting 70% from from beyond the arc in UF's 7 SEC games....70% three point shooting (28 for 40) over a 7 game span is unreal..

whocares said...

Dont have any Jimmy Johns here in Birmingham, but they had one in Auburn when I was in school there. Pretty quality sandwich.

whocares said...

Yeah TP, that white boy can throw them down. At the game this past weekend I looked at my buddy and was like "has Humphrey missed a three all game?"

I think he ended up like 6 of 8.

Martin VanNostrand said...

LEt me just say, I hooked up the HD last night in time for Jazz/Spurs and it was GLORIOUS!

Question though, the cable company only gave me component cables. If I get the DVI - HDMI cable will the picture be that much better?

I'll probably do this anyway as the tv only has one set of component inputs. This way I can roll the cable through the HDMI and the DVD through the component.

ToddPacker said...

there are a couple of jimmy john's in gainesville...not a bad sandwich....they always have a sign in the window that says "FREE SMELLS"...

El Padrino said...

you won't notice martin
i tried the hdmi and i went back to using the componets

ToddPacker said...

HDMI is the way to go....also make sure your resulution is set to 1080i...that gives me the best picture usually...

ToddPacker said...

ep

i noticed a big diff in component v. hdmi...maybe it depends on the TV

ToddPacker said...

i have an older 53" projection tv...

if you're rockin a plasma, lcd or dlp maybe the hdmi doesn't matter

ToddPacker said...

hdmi Z...pretty sad

El Padrino said...

then i guess it all depends on your tv

temwr said...

HD is great. I have no answer on the component thing.

We have Jimmie John's here. Yogi's Hoagie's is probably the best sub in town.

We also have a place called Jersey Mike's. It is just like Jimmie John's.

And WG Grinders has some OK stuff too, but they are too pricey.

temwr said...

I just printed off about 300 pages of stuff. My printer does about 4 pages a minute (it is from 1995).

Looks like I get some free time.

temwr said...

You will learn to dislike certain things about HD.

The top of my list was Lou Holtz and Chris Berman. Haven't seen sweet Lou lately so maybe he will get replaced by Vitale's shiny dome.

Isiah Thomas said...

zeke.....is back

The Rev said...

We have a place called Jimmy John's near me, but it is different from your sub chain.

Our Jimmy John's

They have electric train sets running in the dining room. Cool place.

temwr said...

Also there is a place called Charley's subs, but they suck. In fact they have have closed.

Of course Subway and Quiznos are around too.

And we have ome Penn Stations. I ate at one about twice a week when I went to IU.

And now the BP gas stations have some sub place in them, I forget what it is called. Wild Oats or something. Or Wild Bean Cafe.

And we have Blimpies which is like a poor man's Subway...I guess.

Isiah Thomas said...

Andrea Kramer's neck in HD might be worse than Lou Holth, maybe.

temwr said...

tjw debt issues, the usual shit.

temwr said...

Lots of Celene Dion and Magic acts for you?

Martin VanNostrand said...

I will say Jerry Sloan looked much older in HD. Well maybe not older, but the toll of years of coaching seemed more visible. Boozer's acne was frightening in his interview as well.

No great stories really.

Most of our money was spent on food and booze. Imagine a toilet flushing when you want to recreate our gambling experience.

Overall a sweet ass trip though. Complete with a lost hotel reservation and a new personal record for money spent on one meal.

Boozing
Sex
Gambling
Food

We hit all the categories of the Vegas pyramid.

you still in recovery-mode or are you back at work yet, zeke

Isiah Thomas said...

re: nice meal

This was def one of the highlights of the trip.

We went to Fleur du Lys at Mandalay Bay.

Me and Future Mrs. Zeke.

They have a FDL in San Fran that we'd been to so we were looking fwd going to this one.

FMZ had the 4 course tasting meal, I had the 5 course (only diff being the cheese plate).

FMZ had escargot to start followed by a salmon dish then 2 types of filet's then dessert.

I had the escargot, lobster, lamb, cheese plate and dessert.

We had a nice bottle of Syrah from Washington state.

Almost as nice a meal as the one in San Fran. And we got to meet the exec chef/owner guy which was cool.

After that we went to Rum jungle in MB. This place was pretty cool. When the club part started they had ladders coming down from the ceiling which had bunji cords on them. Bitches were dancing oon a walkway above the bar and then they had chicks hooked up to the bunji ropes doing flips and shit.

Very fun night.

Isiah Thomas said...

TP - recovery mode at work.

5 AM bitch-slapped me today. I started to get a cold late Monday into Tuesday. Sinuses are all fucked up.

whocares said...

So rev, by "serious president" do you mean one who gets blown at his desk?

Zeke,

Four hunnit dollar meal? I need details.

El Padrino said...

rum jungle was sick

my fav club was RAIN in the palms

The Rev said...

"So rev, by "serious president" do you mean one who gets blown at his desk?"

Actually, yes.

I think GW is just jealous that women say no to him when he asks.

El Padrino said...

ceasars place was fat too, pure i think, splash in rio was good cuz all the blackjack dealers are in thongs and there is a pool by the bar, in which a mermaid or two swim/frolic around

vegas is awesome

"So rev, by "serious president" do you mean one who gets blown at his desk? "

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

damn rev, when the self righteous finger gets pointed back at ya.....you axed for it.

El Padrino said...

just to note "all the blackjacks dealers were in thongs" i meant right outside the club splash in RIO, there are all women dealers

Spaceman Spiff said...

I know 'sconsin got upset and all, but did anyone see the Texas-Durant box score? mu'fucka had 37 points and 23 boards, while outscoring texas tech himself 24-22 in the second half. I havent seen oden do anything close to dominating a game yet.

Spaceman Spiff said...

someone grabbed my ass in RAIN as i was walkin through the crowd, I tell myself it was a female, yea definitely a female.

The Rev said...

Oh I could respond with liberal fury right now.

but I'm not gonna.

Isiah Thomas said...

rumjungle was the only true "club" we went too, the rest of the time we'd hit up the bars/lounges whereever we were at.

Pure at CP is supposed to be the illest.

We didn't make it to the Palms though it sounds sick. Nekkid chicks = outstanding.

I liked the Wynn and their club, Tryst is supposed to be sick as well.

The place we stayed the 2nd half of the week was close to the Hard Rock. Isn't that the place SG is always spouting off about? Wasn't impressed in the least with that place. F U Bill.

Isiah Thomas said...

the most disturbing part about RJ was these 3 guys, who appeared to be straight, but....

They were right by the entrance, wasted as shit trying to dance....one dood just stood normal like then the other guy got on his knees and put his face in his crotchal region, then the third guy stood over the other guy who was kneeling.

I was yelling WTF and seriously about to run over and drop kick the guy but some bouncer/manager dood broke that shit up.

Simply awful. The only black eye of the evening and trip.

Isiah Thomas said...

spiff I'm with you on Durant. He can already play.

All you hear about with Oden is his potential and he's playing with one hand.

Durant is already laying chin nuts.

If Oden is that hurt he needs to chill and rehab. Durant looks like he'd rape your moms to win, Oden, eh not so much.

Isiah Thomas said...

"Oh I could respond with liberal fury right now. "

Is this before or after you put on your Hillary in '08 moo moo?

El Padrino said...

i dont like hard rock because i dont like drug addicts

weed is cool

but i was at hard rock's after hours place and people were just snorting coke off the floor, it was horrible, it was the onyl time in my life that i turned down a blow job
some dirtbag coke whore wanted to take a cab back to the luxor with us (3 of us) and my dirtbag friend was like only if you blow us

bitch said yes, i said peace out
i'm gonna play some cards and cab it back a little later

he ended up fucking her
but he coughs alot now so who knows who won in that deal

El Padrino said...

durant is sick
oden is a true center though

however
i'm still on the list that doesnt think that highly of him yet

The Rev said...

You're asking for it Zeke.

I got a 5 scroller with your name on it.

Isiah Thomas said...

I was only at the HR around midday or so, wasn't impressed with the layout. Maybe it gets better at night.

and the Stu Scott pic is great.

The Rev said...

Just for the record, I'm backing John Edwards.

Isiah Thomas said...

rev I already got a little flu working, no need to exacerbate the condition with liberal gibber gabber

Isiah Thomas said...

bartender bitches had the push-ups working and the dancing bitches and cocktail waitresses.....oh man, had to utilize the eye trick mainly since I was around FMZ all the time.

You don't move the head just the eyes.

The Rev said...

Hey, I'm being good. They're trying to bait me.

El Padrino said...

yeah i never went with the misses so i was outta control a bit when it came to that, i has a sore neck for weeks

good use of the tricky eye though

El Padrino said...

no you started with the video

El Padrino said...

you know that monorail that goes from excalibur to mandalay

i threw up in the that thing, first car

just so you know

Isiah Thomas said...

speaking of tricky eyes, this isn't new....

but enlarge EP's pic, I swear SS has two lazy eyes. Them shits are both lazy.

Isiah Thomas said...

EP - that's good work on the mono rail. I hadn't been to vegas in four years or so. Most casino's had that air freshner deal working to the max so the vomit, smoke, boodussy smell wasn't overpowering.

Spaceman Spiff said...

anybody know the back story on stu's eye. I read that they were filming a reality tv show for espn and he got hit in the eye by a football or some shit and the show was cancelled, and hes stuck with that thing.

Spaceman Spiff said...

I went once and it was with my uncle (for a fantasy football draft no less) and he is old.

Isiah Thomas said...

yeah that's the place rev

temwr said...

That Jets story is made up.

That Keith Olbermann guy popped one in his eye. That is why Olbermann works for Fox now.

Isiah Thomas said...

I hope Stu was in the middle of screaming "boo-ya" when he got hit.

The Rev said...

Stu can hunt birds and squirrels at the same time.

The Rev said...

Tem use this :

The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

My buddy and I are arguing oversomething. RE: KEEPER LEAGUE VALUE OF D. WRIGHT and RYAN ZIMMERMAN. I am not saying that Zimmerman is better than Wright -- I am saying his Keeper value is arguably just as good as Wright's is. Except that Zim doesn't get Wright's hype.

Wright - Age 22 season (first full year)
.306 avg, 27 hrs, 102 rbis, 99 runs, 17 sbs

Zimmerman - Age 21 season (first full year)
.287, 20 hrs, 110 rbis, 84 runs, 11 sbs.

You really should measure Zimmerman by his NEXT years stats, as he will finally be Wright's age in his rookie year. He is way ahead of Wright for this point in his career. He put up these stats at 21? That is ridiculous.

thoughts?

Re: Mills/Zimmerman

Hmm. To a dark place this line of thought will take us. Great care we must take.

JFreak said...

I personally enjoyed the [adult swim] marketing tactics.

How can you confuse that for a bomb? Stupid Bostonians.

The Rev said...

So in looking at MOV's comment there (not really much), it tricked me into actually reading what DB posted for the first time in a month and a half.

Reading that column gave me Stu Scott lazy eye.

That idiot thinks he can still submit columns to Page 2 when he barely practices his writing skills anymore.

I'm ashamed I ever liked him.

temwr said...

I can't believe that the Adult Swim folks got in trouble for putting lite brights out.

temwr said...

Re: Zimmerman/Wright

Good relations with the Wookies, I have.

thejugwhite said...

I don't go over there to his blog, but just because db doesn't write on his blog, how do you know he doesn't practice his writing skills?

JFreak said...

I can't stop laughing about how stupid people in Boston are.

IT'S LIGHTS ON A BOARD! OMG, IT MUST BE A BOMB!

thejugwhite said...

Sorry Mills, not into fantasy baseball...

El Padrino said...

it's better to be wright then to be wrong mills

temwr said...

Seriously though.

How long is this keeper league? Wright is 24 now and Zimmerman is 22. That is not a big difference at all. They both should play for at least another 10 years. It is not like we are deciding between a 32 year old and a 22 yr old.

So the question really becomes who is better. Wright or Zimmerman. I go with the known commodity and take Wright.

Hands down.

thejugwhite said...

I don't think age factors in with those two though...only one year seperating them. This is baseball, so they can play for years. It almost looks like a wash for me.

temwr said...

And really either one could totally flop in the next two years and it wouldn't be too shocking. Neither has produced at a top lvl for more than 2 years in a row.

Wright is more of a known commodity so he wins.

thejugwhite said...

Didn't Wright suck at the end of the year last year?

temwr said...

not really

Mills said...

keeper league will go for a long while.

i am not saying that zim is better per se, its just that zim is my 5th best keeper, and wright is probably his 3 or 4th best.

i think there is value in that, and zim has some major upside, without wright's hype.

Mills said...

yeah -- wright blew after the all-star break, but i don't hold that against him.

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

I'd keep Zimmerman. But that's just me. he's got a better glove too. Although... Zim plays in a big ass stadium.

Wright really sucked last year down the stretch.

I had him in one of my leagues and eventually benched him.

You've got to go with Carl Crawford.

Who the hell is Sizemore?

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

Sizemore.

Mills said...

Sizemore led the league in runs last year. he has better power than crawford, but nowhere near the sbs.

i like sizemore cuz of 30/30 potential, and 130 runs scored potential.

both will hit about. 300, so that is a wash.

rbis are not really what either guy does either.

Re: zimmerman/wright

I'd be happy with either.

Re: sizemore/crawford

Unless I needed the SBs really bad I would take Sizemore. More doubles, more HRs, equal in triples, lower average but not too much lower. Plus Crawford will be distracted with trade talk. Also Sizemore is still playing for his big payday.

temwr said...

oops I meant I'd be happy with either, but if I get to choose I choose Wright.

temwr said...

And yeah big run difference but that is because of the team they are on.

If Crawford ends up a Yankee and doesn't melt in NY then he will score 2,345,829,508 runs a year.
