Wednesday – it’s better than Monday.

I’m looking fwd to the Ryder Cup, lets see if Team USA can rally on foreign soil and win this thing. Some of the guys on our team include : J.J. Henry, Zach Johnson, Vaughn Taylor, and Brett Wetterich. I know zero about any of these guys except I think a few have won smaller PGA tour events this year. It should be interesting. I wonder if Tiger will play out of his mind, this seems like the last frontier for him. He’s dominated all aspects of golf except the RC. His record in this event is less than stellar.

On to the brew-ha-ha about Tiger’s Wife. Here’s the main gist of the article about his wife being linked to risqué pics. The tabloid also takes some shots at other players wives.

"My wife, yes, she has been a model prior, and she did do some bikini photos," Woods said. "But to link her to porn Web sites and such is unacceptable, and I no not accept that at all. Neither does our team."

"Most American golfers are married to women who cannot keep their clothes on in public," the magazine wrote. "Is it too much to ask that they leave them at home for the Ryder Cup? Consider the evidence. Tiger Woods' wife can be found in a variety of sweaty poses on porn sites."

Inside the tabloid, it reprinted photos of Nordegren in a bikini, along with a nude photo of a woman purported to be Nordegren. Woods vehemently denied it was his wife when it first came out three years ago.

"It's ridiculous," Steinberg said from IMG headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. "I can't say much now because of prejudice, because I'm not sure what we'll do in the future. Everyone knew [the nude photo] wasn't her. It's plain as day. You can see it's not factual. It's kind of ironic they bring it up this week."

"You do things for the people you love and you care about," Woods said. "My father got ridiculed for years, and I always felt for my father and my mother the same way. My wife, we're in it together. We're a team, and we do things as a team. And I care about her with all my heart."

In an unrelated note:

Just to pile on, I heard this on the radio the other day: Charlie Weiss has never beaten a team that has finished in the year end rankings while he’s been at ND. You stay classy ND.

Feel free to discuss anything else.

I used to post on Thursday's, we can sub in EP's NFL/College preview then as well as Rev's suicide pool reminder.

Damn you Miami.

Green Bay sucks but their run D is top 10. Tough game to pick.

I'd take the Lions, Kitna might throw it 40+ times but I think they'll win it.

I used to post on Wednesdays, but with all the suicide pool postings I didn't want to overdo my end.

Though I still will take some guest columns for Wednesdays. Meiz may do an NBA preview sometime at the end of the month. Anyone who wants to step up in the future e-mail me.

Mike Williams was unstoppable at SC. He's not fast enough to dominate the NFL. They should move him to TE.

ok, guys... leave the wives at home, and i'll personally swing by in the evenings to make sure that everything is cool and that the house is safe and all. go play golf....

I feel like Tiger is going to be pissed off about the wife stuff and go on a rampage. He's like Steve Smith, or Larry Bird, or The Incredible Hulk, you're better off not making him angry

Pete Rose's haircut makes him look like Lou Ferigno when he played The Hulk.

Discuss.

Martin VanNostrand said...

Tiger will show up for a RC with ice in his veins soon if not this year. True this event has messed with him in the past. He has the mental ablility to get over that though (unlike Peyton in the post season). I know everyone compares him to Jordan as far as dominance. Definitely debateable since their sports and comp are so different. I do see a likeness of mind though.

Tiger and his Airness both have shown looks on their faces that say "Who the F do you think you are? Come get some scrubs." No matter the adversity of the situation they delivered. They both got the ability, physically many do. But Tiger, like Jordan, has this mind set that takes him to the next level. Sometime soon he is going to wax the RC, carry his squad and own event for years. Truthfully, I'm not a big fan of either Tiger or MJ but you can't argue against those guys.

Dale Earnhardt is a dirty whore.

Busch and Johnson have a lot of work to do...but JJ has been in this situation before. Two years ago he was 200-something behind with only 6 races left, and finished 8 points out.

Harvick looks really good. He's definitely the one to beat right now.

Did I mention that I'm glad Stewart didn't make the chase. Don't have to hear about him anymore.

SG's columns are getting more and more manic. I can't remember when I predicted he'll be in rehab but I'm putting January as the month he'll enter.

Isiah Thomas said...

The SG is just now getting the fact that their is still a racial divide in America and that inner city problems haven't been solved?

He grew up in one of the racist cities in America and is just now getting this?

Isiah Thomas said...

I think he'll gloss over the SH's picks last week with some one line ditty. But if it keeps up he'll have to turn in his man card.

Los said...

I think Richard Petty will win the NASCAR race this week, followed by Bill Elliott, and some other drunk.

Los, the question remains.. will he get out and beat his wife afterwards?

Beth82678 said...

OK, I must be missing something basic, but how are y'all finding SG's new column? I go to his home page and his archive page and I don't see a new article anywhere on either.

Back to golf though, I'm sure the European team is just as mad about that article as Tiger is cause it'll get him riled up. Remember a few years ago when Vijay's caddy wore a hat that said "Tiger who?" and Tiger promptly smoked him during play? I can see that happening now at the RC.

Los said...

I hope the "Skoal" car wins. I think it is the coolest - although the Bass Pro Shop car is mighty cool as well.

I was thinking the same thing EP.

Rev you bought his book - is it any good? Isn't it just all of his columns thrown together? Give us a ruling.

Also his movie/mad lib analogy is funny. Here's a link to a web-site which basically treats SG's columns as one giant mad lib.

Isiah Thomas said...

only 4 of the top 10 in NASCAR pts are good ol' boys from the south (Hamlin, Dale Jr, Martin and Burton)

the rest (Johnson, Kenseth, Busch, Gordon, Harvick and Kayne) are from other parts of the country.

The Rev said...

To be honest, I never finished his book.

I started reading it, and yes most of it is past columns put together for a book. However, he does write new blurbs about the columns in between lines. I would say it's about 75% columns, and 25% new writings.

For some reason, I got through about half of it, put it down a while ago, and never picked it up again. Maybe it is because I had already read most of it in my past. I didn't have a desire to reread a bunch of stuff.

It wasn't because it was a bad book. I enjoyed what I read of it. But I had this feeling like I had already done this before. So I put it away.

I got the book manly for the book signing, and so I could have an autographed book. Since I collect autographed books, it became more of a collection piece after a while. And it gave me a chance to meet him, which was cooler than having the book for me.

I don't know if this is an indictment of the book or not. If you want to reread his past stuff and get some new tidbits thrown in there, go ahead and get it in paperback.

It is not uncommon.

But that might be the first time anyone has laid out how to get to the article on your own. Usually people just link to it.

KC by a longshot has fallen more.

Singer Aaron Carter is engaged to Playboy Playmate Kari Ann Peniche, the bride-to-be confirms to PEOPLE.

More on this story

"I'm very excited about it," Peniche tells PEOPLE. "Aaron is the most genuine person I know. He's kind, loving, and I love him so much."

Carter, 18, popped the question to Peniche (who previously dated Aaron's brother Nick) on Saturday in Las Vegas while they were onstage in front of 200 people during the Playboy Comedy Tour at the Palms Casino Resort.

"I don't remember it happening. It was such a blur," says Peniche about the surprise proposal. "I had no idea he was going to do this, but I'm glad he did."

The couple, who plan to wed in the next six months, hugged and kissed after Peniche accepted the proposal, Playboy tour producer and comedian Cort McCown tells PEOPLE.

"He said he was going to do it, but we thought he was kidding," said McCown. "He was really nervous."

Peniche, 22, was named Miss United States Teen 2003, but was stripped of her title after posing for Playboy. Carter is set to appear on an E! reality show about his family, House of Carters, premiering next month.
