Suicide pool picks for Week 3

Yes, this is the holiest of days. Sunday is here, and it's week 3. Let us all worship at the altar of professional football.

As I said earlier this week, most of the games seemed like harder picks to me as more evenly matched teams are going at it this week. In my mind, this is the week where the betting cream rises to the top.

And before I almost forget, these are the suicide pool picks...

The Rev - Patriots
Cam - Eagles
Eric - Dolphins
Iam - Eagles
Martin - Giants
Temwr87 - Ravens
ElP - Ravens
Bryan - Ravens
Spaceman - Eagles
Los - Colts
Ebntx - Saints
Keith - Bills
Jaywhite - Panthers

With 7 players standing on islands, this ought to be a fun week.

Start discussing here! Hopefully I'll see some more people around here tonight for the night game, along with the usual suspects.

I hope that link shows. It is the "wife" of the US Ryder Cup Captain. She looks like a dude.

Like LC said, that was a $14 million comeback for Notre Dame. Even if they lose to USC they are BCS bound.

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

I think the Dolphins might really suck. How can that be?

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

The lack of D in the Packer/Lion game is treeeemendous! 14-14 thru 1Q.

Isiah Thomas said...

considering the Irish play all 3 service academies and North Carolina....it won't be tough to run the table to SC.

That comeback was great but had nothing to do with Chuck Weiss and all to do with boneheaded MSU.

Weiss and Co are still overrated.

Isiah Thomas said...

the Badgers got man handled in the 2nd half yesterday, they were never in the game.

Keith S said...

That may be so, but Wisconsin is not a good team this year. Michigan didn't look impressive at all, but that could have easily been a letdown game for them. It was a good start to the Big 10 season for them, though.

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

It's disappointing. They always seem like they're 1 year away but that year never comes. Frusrating as all hell. They need to invest in a QB.

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

WI doesn't suck. Michigan is # fing 6.

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

sorry, I'm being a homer. Gotta do it though.

Isiah Thomas said...

keith you must have missed the 2nd hald where WI didn't get a 1st down until garbage time.

Isiah Thomas said...

Cincy is trying to lose.

Keith S said...

I'm not saying Michigan isn't solid. I'm just saying Wisconsin isn't good. Yeah, they were 3-0, but that was against Bowling Green, Western Illinois, & SDSU. Michigan is head and shoulders above UW this year, the fact that they dominated the 2nd half isn't a surprise. I'm just saying I wasn't that impressed with them yesterday. Just like I wasn't impressed with OSU yesterday. Their offense looked really bad. They need to step it up this week at Iowa.

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

Why aren't the Bears running the ball?

Why can't Ronnie Brown get a decent run?

Why do I care so much about a free Fantasy League?

Keith S said...

Zeke - Bill Maas is back. Enjoy.

Isiah Thomas said...

"The Cards are stacked and I don't mean the World Series of Poker" -- Bill Maas.

Maas is back in the desert baby!

After the morning games.

Isiah Thomas said...

Maas just said something like Bulger is the lead actor and he's not acting good then compared learning a new offense with learning a new language but his explanation was something like

"I know you can speak french but if you speak english you're not speaking french which isn't english which isn't french when you want to speak french"

That's paraphrasing but damn close to what he actually said.

Did anyone just see how queer Strahan looks in his line-up photo on Fox? If you have DVR check it out.

first Q and the giants are already getting routed. wow.

The Rev said...

The Eagles are making a statement!

I'm not sure what exactly it is. Maybe it's "We can beat the snot out of bad teams, but not good ones." But I'll take it.

Spaceman Spiff said...

sports guy actually right about 1 thing, never have bets involving culpepper

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

That's it. I'm playing Hasselbeck at home no matter what.

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

i can't believe i didn't play Hasselbeck. I'm beside myself.

The Rev said...

Hassleeck is kicking my ass in my money league.

And I'm starting two Giants receivers today. I'm in trouble.

The Rev said...

98 yard fumble return for a TD by the Eagles...

WHHHOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

Zeke, will you update after the 3:15 games? And maybe the night games? Good God I'm greedy. No pressure.

Keith S said...

Another Maasism: "Fitz got mittz".
I love this guy

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

So, why do we think Plaxico got benched?

Spaceman Spiff said...

ravens just saved my 6 point teaser

The Rev said...

So that's why Eli is throwing TD's to everyone except Plaxico.

I wonder if the lost fumble Plaxico had was part of the reason.

The Rev said...

Not only that, the Ravens just saved three people in the suicide pool.

JFreak said...

The Steelers look pretty bad.

Spaceman Spiff said...

plaxico also had the ball that went right through his hands and went for an INT, then the fumble, then the benching, he was smiling after his mistakes, he doesnt have the best attitude

The Rev said...

Confirmed... Plaxico was benched because of his fumble today. It was his second fumble in as many weeks.

Can I get a ruling on this? Yes, we know Plaxico can be a knob. But don't you give your best playmaker in the receiving corps a chance to redeem himself on the field? Especially in a game like today where the Giants needed all the help they could get?

Hard-headed move by Tom coughlin in my opinion.

Of course, I'm pissed cause I started Plaxico today.

The Rev said...

Well, if he was smiling after his mistakes, maybe it is a good reason.

JFreak said...

rev, why didn't stallworth play.

damn.

good way to screw up my team.

The Rev said...

Stallworth was deactivated due to hamstring spasms.

I'm sure that screwred many a fantasy team.

The Rev said...

So Brian Westbrook gets 164 total yards, over 100 on the ground, and 3 total touchdowns today.

And Bob Costas nominates for player of the week on NBC... John Kasay?

A freakin kicker for player of the week? Is Bob that dumb?

Westbrook's stats were better than Clinton Portis, who was also nominated. And Portis only got in the endzone twice.

Kickers should never be players of the week.

The Rev said...

And for the record...

ElPadrino's NFL picks went 2-3. Wins for the Eagles and the under on the Colts/Jags. Loss on the Steelers, and failure to cover on the Ravens and Panthers.

However, he did nail all 4 on his teaser. That rescued him this week.

The Rev said...

And emergency surgery after the game for Chris Simms... yeesh! Sounds bad!

The Rev said...

Am I talking to myself tonight?

Moral victories are for losers. That being said, big moral victory for the Vikes today...we'll be 4-1 heading into our bye week (at Buff and then home against Det). Before week 1 I had us at about 6-10 for the year...now I'm thinking 9-7 or 10-6 and a certain wild card birth. In any case, GO TWINS: MAGIC #2

kodiac130 said...

Hey Rev, I'm predicting a Philly-Minny W.S. this year. Remember this in a month

Kasay did have a 46 yder to win it Rev, the Iggles routed a crappy team.

JFreak said...

Damn...so close, yet so far.

JFreak said...

now I'm real pissed at stallworth, he was probable for the game.

gayyyy.

Dikembe Meiztombo said...

I'd have so many more points if I had only played Hasselbeck. It's officially in my head.

The Rev said...

Kodiac... I'll take that. But the Mets are tough.

Zeke... so what? 3 td's are 3 td's no matter what. And the kicker wouldn't even be in that position to win without the rest of his team getting there. Westrook can score from 70 yards out like he did today. Let's see Kasey do that.

kodiac130 said...

Rev: sure the Mets are tough (as are the Yankees), but really, could there possibly be a better WS than Twins-Phills, at least as story lines go? 2 teams that everybody (including their own fans) wrote off as dead during the season. This will be as great as the 1991 Worst-to-First WS between the Twins and the Braves. DESTINY

temwr said...

Yeah Ravens, way to pull it out.

Did anyone go out in suicide pool? I am too lazy to look for myself.

temwr said...

Twins - Phils would get the lowest ratings for a WS ever.

Mostly because every day there are more and more channels to choose from, but also because nobody lives in Minn.

The Rev said...

At least two went out.

And I'm in danger of making it three.

temwr said...

Pats look done today.

Isiah Thomas said...

I said it last week, the Pats are just not a good football team anymore.

Isiah Thomas said...

Brady is acting like a little bitch.

temwr said...

That's an attempt at a reverse jinx. Maybe it will wake the Pats up...but not Maroney, I am playing against him in my $$$ league.

Isiah Thomas said...

"We got outplayed and outcoached. Write that down," Shockey said.

Coughlin will be gone at seasons end unless the G Men get to the SB.

what the hell are those emblems near both sidelines at midfield?

they look like an old one bar facemask

I have never seen someone run his mouth as much as Kellen Winslow.

temwr said...

I noticed those things last week or maybe 2 weeks ago when watching the pats. I have no clue what they are.

Isiah Thomas said...

but he's a soldier

Isiah Thomas said...

they've been bugging me for over a year....WTF are they?

Isiah Thomas said...

Jr. Seau's act is old. We get it guy, you made a tackle. Shut the fuck up, stop acting up and get back to the huddle for the next play.

temwr said...

They just landed on those things. Still couldn't tell.

Isiah Thomas said...

I hope everyone gets a chance to see the final 3 minutes of the AZ/STL game.

STL has the ball with about 3 minutes left up by a few trying to run out the clock, lo and behold they fumble the snap and AZ gets the ball on the STL 30 or so, well within Rackers range.

Crowd is going nuts, 110 on the decibal meter.

And Maas and co go "just don't turn it over again"

A few runs later I think its 3rd and a few and what happens? Old man Warner takes the snap, starts to pull it up, but it looks like the guards hand gets in there and knocks it away. Fumble. Ball game.

LOL.

I'm glad I'm not a Cards fan.

RIP Denny Green's coaching career.

Oh it looks like Gillettes logo.

Isiah Thomas said...

is that some sort of landmark in Boston?

temwr said...

It must be the new 3958 blade razor.

temwr said...

Hell even MAdden knows to kick the field goal there.

Dumb Pats

Isiah Thomas said...

I love watching the Patriots suck.

temwr said...

Well that's it for tonight. I can't believe the Pats don't kick that FG on 4-1, they know they need one. WOW.

Isiah Thomas said...

Javon Walker looks like he's 12 yrs old.

Isiah Thomas said...

Steve Mariuchi will be the next coach of the Cards.

Isiah Thomas said...

and how is Koren Robinson still playing this season?

Martin VanNostrand said...

Great weekend!I got pilled on in FFL, not to mention losing Simms (which may end up being a gift) and the Giants pulled a Jay White and left me standing inside a 7/11 in the suicide pool.

El Padrino said...

by the way simms got his spleen removed

I know several of y'all were pretty amazed by this last week, so thought I'd give you an update to put your mind at ease. :-) But Aaron Carter has broken off his engagment with the former Playmate. (And yep, HE'S the one who broke it off...)

Bears update...the Bears played UGLY yesterday, but managed to pull out the win. The refs were flag happy yesterday, I really don't remember when I have seen so many penalties by both teams. I'm not saying they were bad calls, but good Lord!! Grossman did not look good yesterdday at all, but he came through when it mattered. They showed a stat in the 4th qtr that said Rex had never thrown a 4th quarter TD in his career, well, you can erase that one. Next week the Seahawks come to town.

Speaking of the Seahawks game...the Giants should hire a hypnotist to put Eli under a spell before each game to where he thinks they are behind by 21 points in the 4th quarter at all times. I think that would be money well spent.

That was the first time I've seen the Vikings play this year, and they are one scrappy team. I think they will be the type of team that no one wants to play down the stretch, and they will be in a lot of low scoring, tough games.

THE CHAMP. said...

thank GOD the raves won. I was screaming at the TV. My girlfriend asked me why I was so into that game. I told her because of this suicide pool. She asked how much money I make if I win. I told her nothing.....but I get 3 autographed things from no-name people! she wasn't impressed.

I need a new girlfriend.

jugdish said...

Nice win by the Skins.

side note...I heard on talk radio this morning that the Texans are on pace to give up over 7000 yards on offense this year, which is over a 1000 yards more than the previous record. OUCH!

I AM CHRIS SIMMS SPLEEN

I had the Dolphins in my $$$ suicide league.
